Strengthening the Voice of the Workforce: ACHVO-K Hosts National County Leaders Workshop

Location: Riverside Drive, Westlands, Nairobi

Today marks a significant milestone in the history of the Advocates for Community Health Volunteers of Kenya (ACHVO-K). The atmosphere at Riverside Drive in Westlands is charged with energy and purpose as we welcome our County Chapter Leaders from across the nation for a pivotal two-day Leadership & Governance Workshop.

As we transition from a grassroots network to a robust National Association, the role of our county leadership has never been more critical. This workshop is not just a meeting; it is a strategic investment in the backbone of our organization – the leaders who represent the voices of over 107,000 Community Health Promoters (CHPs) on the ground.

Why This Workshop Matters

The primary objective of this summit is to strengthen our internal governance and enhance coordination across all 47 counties. By equipping our leaders with advanced skills in management and advocacy, we are ensuring that ACHVO-K operates as a unified, powerful engine for change.

Over the next two days, our leaders will engage in intensive sessions focused on:

  • Strengthening Governance Structures: Ensuring every county chapter is run with transparency, accountability, and professionalism.

  • Unified Advocacy: Aligning our national message to effectively push for the Community Health Service Act Bill.

  • Strategic Mobilization: Sharing best practices on how to mobilize members and engage county governments effectively.

Advancing Our Collective Mission

This workshop directly fuels our commitment to empowering CHPs. As we sit together, representatives from the arid lands of Turkana to the coast of Mombasa, we are reminded that our challenges are shared, and our strength lies in our unity.

We are using this platform to advance our collective advocacy for three non-negotiable pillars:

  1. Professional Recognition: Validating CHPs as essential workers, not just volunteers.

  2. Fair Remuneration: Ensuring timely and dignified compensation for the work done.

  3. Stronger Health Systems: Building a community health system that leaves no Kenyan behind.

A United Movement

We are deeply inspired by the dedication of our County Chapter Leaders, many of whom have traveled long distances to be here. Their commitment confirms that the spirit of volunteerism is evolving into a force of professional leadership.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our partners who have made this workshop possible. Your support is directly translating into stronger leadership at the grassroots level.

Together, we are building a movement that is undeniable. As these leaders return to their respective counties, they carry with them the tools, knowledge, and renewed fire to champion the rights of every CHP in Kenya.

Together, we move forward.
